NYC Mexican Independence Day: Street closures guide
What to know
For those attending NYC's traditional Mexican Independence Day parade and festivities, several street closures will be in effect in the city. The parade will take place on Sunday, September 17th, 2023, from 12 pm to 5 pm. The route will begin at 26th Street and 5th Avenue, and proceed north on 5th Avenue to 114th Street. The following street closures will be in effect:
- 5th Avenue from 26th Street to 114th Street
- 26th Street from 5th Avenue to Madison Avenue
- 114th Street from 5th Avenue to Lenox Avenue
Additional information
In addition to the street closures, there will also be some changes to public transportation in the area. The following subway stations will be closed from 11 am to 6 pm:
- 28th Street (1 train)
- 34th Street-Penn Station (1, 2, and 3 trains)
- 42nd Street-Bryant Park (7 train)
- 59th Street-Columbus Circle (1, A, B, C, and D trains)
- 72nd Street (1, 2, and 3 trains)
- 86th Street (4, 5, and 6 trains)
- 110th Street (6 train)
Attendees are advised to plan their travel accordingly and allow for extra time to get to their destination.
