PETALING JAYA, March 8 — Singer Shila Amzah's Instagram account was hacked yesterday, with the suspects demanding RM500,000 in exchange for returning the account.
According to a report by mStar, Shila's team has since reported the incident to the authorities.
The suspects allegedly contacted Shila's team via a private message on Instagram, demanding the hefty sum in exchange for returning the account.
Shila's team has since issued a statement on the singer's official Facebook page, informing fans of the incident and urging them not to engage with the hackers.
The statement read: "Shila Amzah's Instagram account has been hacked. Please do not respond to any messages or requests from the account. We are currently working with the authorities to resolve the issue. Thank you for your understanding."
Shila's Instagram account has over 4.9 million followers.
This is not the first time a Malaysian celebrity's Instagram account has been hacked.
In 2021, актриса Emma Maembong's Instagram account was hacked, with the suspects demanding RM50,000 in exchange for returning the account.
The suspects who hacked Emma's account were eventually arrested by the police.
