Spanish Footballer Nico Williams Granted Spanish Citizenship
21-Year-Old Receives Citizenship After Years of Dual Nationality
Athletic Bilbao Winger Now Eligible to Represent Spain Internationally
Nicholas Nico Williams Arthuer, a 21-year-old winger for La Liga club Athletic Bilbao, has been granted Spanish citizenship. Williams, who was born in Pamplona, Spain, has played for both Spain and England at the youth level but has now committed to representing Spain at the senior level.
Williams, who is eligible to represent Spain through his mother, has been a standout performer for Athletic Bilbao in recent seasons. He has scored 10 goals in 60 appearances for the club and has helped them qualify for two consecutive Copa del Rey finals.
The granting of Spanish citizenship to Williams is a significant boost for the Spanish national team. Williams is a versatile winger who can play on either flank and his addition to the squad gives manager Luis Enrique another attacking option.
